Vehicle Updates Progressing: The new Tahoe ordered last year has arrived but will require several months before entering service. The ambulance damaged in December’s crash is currently at the body shop receiving a new chassis as approved by the board last month.
Radio System Upgrade: All department radios will be reprogrammed for a new communications platform, Battalion Chief Bruce Boyle reported.
Fire Prevention Active: The district’s new fire marshal is increasing field presence, with fire prevention activities remaining busy. The department continues updating fire codes while working with both Manhattan and Peotone villages.
Conference Presentation: Chief Malone and Deputy Chief Piper presented information about the Manhattan-Peotone consolidation at the recent Mabas conference, sharing their experience with other fire districts.
Year-End Wrap-Up: The final department year-end presentation was scheduled for March 18, Deputy Chief Piper announced.
