Green Garden Township Board Meeting | January 12, 2026
The Green Garden Township Board met on Monday, January 12, 2026, to handle routine business and receive updates on major infrastructure and development issues. In addition to the extensive discussions on the Earthrise solar project and the Town Hall renovation, the board approved the minutes from the December 8, 2025, meeting and the township financial report. The meeting also featured a call for volunteers to assist with various community service initiatives, including the food pantry and a proposed disaster relief program.
Scheer Road Bridge Update:
Road Commissioner Jim Hilliard reported that the Scheer Road Bridge project is progressing, with lighting for the bridge scheduled to be installed on February 18. Hilliard also noted that his crews are currently focused on snow plowing, ice control, and maintaining equipment.
New Collector Sworn In:
Michael Flanagan was welcomed as the new Township Collector. Flanagan, who took office on January 1, will oversee tax collection duties and potentially the management of township cemeteries pending future board decisions.
Community Services Push:
The board is actively seeking volunteers for several community service committees. Trustee Wes Shepherd reported on the success of the food pantry partnership with Jackson Creek Church. Additionally, the board discussed revitalizing the Veterans program and launching a new “Disaster Relief and Health Emergency” initiative, which would include organizing CPR and AED training for residents.
Road Condition Dispute:
During public comments, a resident identified as “Buddy” raised concerns about road conditions, specifically citing drainage issues and a lack of culverts related to heavy hauling. Trustee Ralph disputed the severity of the road conditions, stating he had driven the area recently without issue, though he agreed to look at specific problem spots identified by the resident.
