Two Administrators Resign
Peotone High School will be seeking a new assistant principal and Peotone Elementary School a new principal following the board’s acceptance of two administrative resignations Monday night. The board approved resignation agreements for PHS Assistant Principal Christopher Camerano, effective June 30, 2025, and PES Principal Krystina Lewis. A resignation for PES Third Grade Teacher Celia Brunzie was also approved.
PES HVAC Project Moves Forward
The major mechanical project at Peotone Elementary School is underway, according to Director of Buildings and Grounds Mike Singleton. Asbestos abatement is scheduled to take place in identified hallways and the gym over spring break, during which the building will be off-limits. The project’s key milestone dates include a substantial completion date of August 15 for the cooling system and October 15 for the heating system.
TruGreen Contract for Weed Control Approved
The board approved a $14,057.76 commercial service agreement with TruGreen for district-wide hardscape vegetation control for the 2025 season. The service includes four applications throughout the year to mitigate weed growth in parking lot cracks, sidewalks, and pavers. The cost represents a 3.5% increase from the previous year.
New Activity Fund for PHS Class of 2028
A new activity fund account for the Peotone High School Class of 2028 was unanimously approved by the board. The fund will be used for fundraising for prom and other homecoming events.
District Approves IHSA Membership
The board unanimously approved the renewal of its 2025-2026 membership with the Illinois High School Association (IHSA), which governs interscholastic athletics and activities.
PTO Donation Accepted
The board formally accepted a donation of $1,473 from the Peotone PTO for the purchase of new Scholastic Bowl buzzers for the Peotone Junior High School team.
