Article Summary: The Peotone school district administration is launching a new community outreach initiative called “Peotone PRIDE,” a series of monthly meetings designed to improve transparency and gather public feedback. The meetings will focus on five key areas: Planning, Resources, Instruction, Development, and Engagement.

Peotone PRIDE Initiative Key Points:

  • New Program: The district is starting a series of monthly community engagement meetings.

  • Five Focus Areas: Each meeting will center on one of five topics: Planning (facilities), Resources (finance), Instruction (academics), Development (staffing), and Engagement (communication).

  • Format: The meetings will involve presentations from administrators, opportunities for Q&A, and feedback sessions, with plans to live-stream the events.

  • Goal: The initiative aims to build relationships, increase understanding of district operations, and incorporate community feedback into its practices.

PEOTONE, IL – The Peotone School District 207U administration on Monday, September 22, 2025, announced a new initiative aimed at fostering better communication and building stronger relationships with the community.

The program, titled “Peotone PRIDE,” will consist of monthly engagement meetings where administrators will discuss district operations and solicit public feedback. The “PRIDE” acronym represents the five core topics the meetings will cover: Planning, Resources, Instruction, Development, and Engagement.

“Our goal is to provide just insight on what we’re doing currently, asking for feedback and questions, and just to takeaways from what the community sees,” Superintendent Brandon Owens explained.

Each session will focus on one of the five concepts. For example, the “Planning” meeting will cover facility plans and long-term goals, while the “Resources” meeting will delve into district funding and budget allocation. The format will include presentations from administrators followed by Q&A sessions. The district is exploring holding the meetings during the school day, possibly over the lunch hour to accommodate working parents, and plans to live-stream the events to maximize participation.

Board members expressed support for the outreach effort but raised concerns about the daytime schedule potentially limiting attendance. They suggested offering an evening option periodically and leveraging technology to allow for remote participation.

Administrators assured the board that while each meeting will have a specific topic, the goal is to create an open dialogue. The district will use a sign-up form to gauge attendance for logistical purposes but stressed that all community members are welcome to attend regardless of whether they registered.
