Manteno Overpowers Peotone in 57-23 Decision

Spread the love

PEOTONE — The Peotone Blue Devils faced a formidable challenge on December 5, falling 57-23 to the visiting Manteno Panthers. Despite a balanced scoring effort from the roster, Peotone struggled to find an offensive rhythm against Manteno’s stifling defense.

Manteno established control early, jumping out to a 19-8 lead in the first quarter. The Panthers continued to apply pressure in the second frame, outscoring Peotone 21-7 to take a commanding 40-15 advantage into the halftime break.

The third quarter proved to be the decisive stretch of the game. Manteno’s defense clamped down, holding the Blue Devils scoreless while adding 13 points to their total. Peotone regrouped in the fourth quarter, matching their first-quarter output with eight points, but the deficit was too large to overcome.

Offensively, Peotone was led by senior M. Schroeder and freshman Payton Pape, who each finished with 5 points. Schroeder connected on the team’s only three-pointer of the night. Senior Peyton Bisping contributed 4 points, while Addison Brandau, Megan Cadieux, Payton Schnelle, and G. Pagliarulo chipped in 2 points apiece.

On the boards, Addison Brandau led the team with 3 rebounds. Bisping, Callie Weiss, Schnelle, K. Bettenhausen, and Pape all pulled down 2 rebounds each in a hard-fought effort in the paint.

Peotone (25-26 season) will look to bounce back in their next contest as they work to improve their shooting efficiency and ball security.
