The Peotone Blue Devils overcame a volatile first half and a second-quarter deficit to rally past Tri-Point for a 43-38 victory. Freshman standout Payton Pape delivered a commanding two-way performance, leading the team in scoring and defensive pressure to help seal the win.

The game began with Peotone in firm control, jumping out to a 14-5 lead after the first quarter. However, the momentum shifted dramatically in the second frame. The Blue Devils went cold offensively, managing just five points, while Tri-Point exploded for 19 points to take a 24-19 advantage into halftime.

Peotone regrouped in the locker room and came out firing in the third quarter. The Blue Devils locked down on defense, holding Tri-Point to six points while pouring in 14 of their own to reclaim the lead. They maintained that defensive intensity in the final period to secure the five-point win.

Pape, representing the Class of 2028, was the catalyst for the Blue Devils. She finished with a game-high 16 points, hitting 5-of-6 from the free-throw line, and was a disruptor on defense with a remarkable eight steals.

Senior leadership was vital in the supporting effort. Addison Brandau scored six points and controlled the paint with a team-high seven rebounds. Senior Madi Schroeder also chipped in six points and five rebounds, while junior Olivia Moe added five points.

A key factor in the tight contest was Peotone’s efficiency from the charity stripe. The Blue Devils shot 79 percent (11-of-14) from the free-throw line, capitalizing on opportunities that ultimately made the difference on the scoreboard. Defensively, the team was active in the passing lanes, recording 18 total steals.
