WATCH: SCOTUS considers gun ban; Pritzker responds to funding freeze; Bailey’s blueprint
(The Center Square) – In today’s edition of Illinois in Focus Daily, The Center Square Editor Greg Bishop discusses the status of several gun control cases being considered by the U.S. Supreme Court, including one challenging the state’s gun and magazine ban and another about challenging the prohibition of carrying firearms on mass transit.
Bishop also provides reaction Gov. J.B. Pritzker had to the Trump administration calling for the receipts on welfare spending. While Pritzker says they show the receipts and get audited ‘all the time,’ audits show material deficiencies in reporting on how the money is spent.
In the aftermath of the police-involved shooting in Minnesota this week, Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker and Vice President J.D. Vance provide different perspectives. Bishop provides some of their comments and concerns over public safety and immigration enforcement.
Finally, Bishop discusses the primary ballot being certified by the Illinois State Board of Elections and shares some of Darren Bailey’s “blueprint” for Illinois. Bailey is one of four Republicans vying for the party’s nomination in the March 17 primary election.
