Township Prepares to Bid Out Town Hall Renovation; Grant Reimbursements Stalled
Green Garden Township Board Meeting | January 12, 2026
Article Summary: Green Garden Township officials are finalizing the scope of work for the Town Hall renovation project, with plans to solicit bids in February. Meanwhile, the board is working to rectify rejected grant invoices submitted by the previous administration.
Town Hall Project Key Points:
-
Timeline: The bid package is expected to be released between February 1 and February 15.
-
Grant Issues: Three invoices submitted by the former board were rejected by the grant program, requiring resubmission.
-
Budget Discipline: The board reiterated its commitment to not spend township funds on the renovation beyond what is covered by grant money.
The Green Garden Township Board on Monday, January 12, 2026, announced that the renovation of the Town Hall is moving into the procurement phase, with a bid package expected to be released next month.
The Supervisor updated the board on the progress with Tria Architecture, stating that the architect is finalizing a new scope of work. The board aims to have the project out for bid by February 1, though it may be as late as February 15. The scope has been adjusted to ensure the project remains strictly within the limits of available grant funding.
“We do not want to spend any township funds outside of the grant money,” the Supervisor said.
Trustee Belinda provided an update on the financial administration of the project, revealing complications with previous filings. Upon accessing the grant program system, she discovered that three invoices submitted by the former board and secretary had been rejected.
“That means that either it was rejected for not having the proper paperwork in, it was rejected because they’re just not going to pay, or it was rejected for other reasons,” Trustee Belinda said.
She is currently working to resubmit the detailed paperwork to secure the reimbursements. The Supervisor expressed optimism that most of the funds would eventually be recovered, though he noted a potential conflict regarding two separate invoices from the architect for different scopes of work.
Once a general contractor is selected, the board plans to appoint a township representative to work alongside the contractor to oversee the construction.
