Briefs:
Town Hall Bid Package Ready:
Supervisor Dean Christofilos announced that the bid package for the Town Hall renovation project is expected to be ready by February 16. The package includes approximately 150 pages of detailed drawings. Once received, the township will hold a pre-bid meeting and file for necessary permits before publishing the project for contractor bids.
Newsletter Plans Scaled Back:
The board discussed sending a newsletter to all residents to improve communication regarding solar farm meetings. However, after reviewing quotes indicating an eight-page color newsletter could cost nearly $4,000, the board discussed scaling back to a simpler one-or-two-page mailer or postcard to save costs while still informing the public about critical dates.
Sheffer Road Bridge Update:
Road Commissioner Jim Hilliard reported that all easements for the Sheffer Road bridge project have been purchased. The project is moving toward the bidding phase with an estimated cost of $1.8 million. Hilliard noted that thanks to a joint road fund and grants, the township’s direct share is expected to be approximately $600,000.
Road District First Aid Class:
The Road District is hosting a first aid class on February 24 at 9:00 a.m. Road Commissioner Hilliard invited township officials to join the road crew for the training. The cost is $85 for the class, with an additional fee for certification cards.
