The Will County Sheriff’s Office received multiple 911 calls at approximately 1 a.m. reporting a large fight and a possible shooting in the vicinity of 27000 S. State Line Road in Crete. Upon arriving at the scene, deputies encountered a large crowd and located three individuals who had sustained gunshot wounds.

Responding deputies immediately initiated life-saving measures on the victims. All three individuals were subsequently transported to area hospitals for further medical treatment. The Will County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that one of the shooting victims later died from their injuries at a hospital in Olympia Fields.

The identity of the deceased individual is currently being withheld and will be formally released by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.

According to preliminary investigations conducted by the Will County Sheriff’s Office, the shooting appears to be an isolated, domestic-related incident that took place during a family party. Law enforcement officials have stated that there is no ongoing threat to the general public.

The Will County Sheriff’s Office publicly thanked several neighboring agencies for their assistance in responding to the overnight shooting, including the Crete Police Department, the Crete Fire Department, the Crete Township Fire Department, and the St. John, Indiana Police Department.
