Assessor Outlines Tax Assessment Timeline: Assessor Bushong reported township-level assessments will open January 21, 2025, and close June 13, 2025. She explained the timing issue with the budget approval in mid-June, which makes funds for revaluations unusable since work must be completed beforehand, potentially affecting property equity in 2027.

Solar Farm Cases Remain in Appellate Process: Supervisor Murday reported that two solar farm matters are pending in the appellate process, with decisions likely to take considerable time “due to the layers of it.” He noted these cases underscore the importance of updating the comprehensive plan promptly.

Township Clarifies Check Deposit: Supervisor Murday corrected the record regarding payments from the Bettenhausens, confirming that three checks (not two as previously stated) were received and deposited, each for $3,192.

Scholarship Opportunities Announced: Supervisor Murday announced that TOI (Township Officials of Illinois) is offering seven $2,000 scholarships for graduating high school seniors attending colleges in Illinois. Information will be posted on the township website.

Data Company Expresses Interest in Township: Supervisor Murday reported that a data company has expressed interest in establishing operations in Green Garden Township, highlighting growing development pressures in the area.

Township Files Decennial Report: The township has filed its decennial report with Will County. A copy is available on the township website for public review.

Flagpole Globe Questioned: Resident Buddy Schultz inquired about the yellow globe on the township building’s flagpole and requested an explanation of its meaning. No immediate answer was provided at the meeting.

Resident Requests Livestreaming: Shelia McFarland expressed frustration over meetings not being livestreamed, noting she had to leave the hospital to attend. Trustee Wagner mentioned that streaming capability is coming soon.

Next Meeting Scheduled: The next Green Garden Township Board meeting will be held on Monday, February 10, 2025, at 7:00 p.m.
