Illinois quick hits: Secretary of State accuses ICE of plate swapping; Treasurer celebrates LGBTQ+

Secretary of State accuses ICE of plate swapping

Illinois Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias says his office is investigating U.S. Customs and Immigration Enforcement over allegations that agents may be illegally swapping Illinois license plates.

Giannoulias cited a video posted on social media and said it is illegal in Illinois to flip license plates or alter them to avoid detection.

Giannoulias said he was announcing a “Plate Watch Hotline” to report license plate tampering.

Treasurer celebrates LGBTQ+

Illinois Treasurer Michael Frerichs hosted a celebration in Chicago Tuesday to commemorate LGBTQ+ History Month.

Frerichs presented awards to leaders in business, education, government, labor, sports, arts and humanities, and the community.

ASSEMBLY show continues

Hundreds of manufacturing professionals and companies are participating in the ASSEMBLY Show in Rosemont this week.

The three-day event opened Tuesday with education sessions focused on assembly line robots and artificial intelligence, smart manufacturing, automated assembly and more.

The show runs through Thursday at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center.
