Trump, Vance among 100,000 expected at Kirk memorial service
President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance are among tens of thousands of people expected at Sunday’s memorial service for Charlie Kirk, the conservative activist who was assassinated Sept. 10 at a speaking event in Utah.
Thousands began lining up early Sunday for the 11 a.m. local time service, being held at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizone, home of the Arizona Cardinals football team.
Trump, who was a close friend of Kirk’s, and members of his cabinet are expected to speak at the service.
Kirk was the founder of Turning Point USA, a nonprofit that advocates for conservative policies on high school and college campuses. Kirk’s widow, Erika Kirk, will lead the organization as CEO going forward.
Kirk was shot in the neck while engaging with students at Utah Valley University. The alleged shooter was arrested a day later. Authorities said they are seeking the death penalty in the case.
