The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency announced that dates for the next EV Rebate Program application cycle will run from Oct. 28, 2025 through Jan. 31, 2026.

The Illinois General Assembly appropriated $14 million to the Illinois EPA for the current fiscal year, which ends on June 30, 2026.

Program requirements are included on the Illinois EPA’s EV Rebate Program webpage.

Chicago speed camera tickets spike

Chicago’s speed cameras issued more violations to drivers during the month of July 2025 than any month during the past three years, sending an average 8,457 tickets to motorists each day.

According to analysis from the Illinois Policy Institute, Chicago’s speed cameras issued more than 250,000 tickets during July.

The spike in new violations started in June, when Mayor Brandon Johnson added 22 speed cameras.
